Peggy S. Cabaniss, CFP®
Peggy is President of HC Financial Advisors and has worked for over 25 years in the investment field as an investment advisor and financial planner. A CFP® since 1986, she has been a long term member of NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) and FPA (Financial Planning Association). Peggy was elected to NAPFA’s National Board in 2003 and served as Chair for the 2005/2006 year. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Arizona and a M.S. degree in Information Science from the University of California at Los Angeles. For six years, Peggy was named one of the top financial advisors in the country by Worth Magazine. In both 2008 and 2009, she was listed in Wealth Manager Magazine as one of 50 Women in Wealth Management who have contributed to the role of women in the profession.
Stephen C. Biggs, CFA, CFP®
Steve is the Senior Analyst and Portfolio Manager for HC Financial Advisors. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) whose background includes experience in fundamental equity research, stock selection and portfolio management. For five years, Steve was the Senior Equity Analyst for Technology at Zacks Investment Research, an independent research organization that provides information to brokerage houses and institutional investors on stocks in all sectors of the market. Steve also worked at Wells Capital Management, the institutional investment management division of Wells Fargo Bank, where he co-managed the Wells Fargo Growth Fund. As a CFA, Steve also holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration and a M.S. degree in Finance from San Diego State University.
Andrew C. Byron, MBA
Andy is a Financial Advisor who focuses on providing financial planning as well as investment management services to our clients. Andy joined HC Financial Advisors after a successful career as a high-tech president and business owner, sales/operations director, and private investor. He earned an MBA degree from Santa Clara University, graduating magna cum laude, with a concentration in Finance. He has completed the CFP educational requirements and has passed the CFP Board examination. He is also a member of both NAPFA and the Financial Planning Association. In addition, he holds a B.A. degree from St. Olaf College with double majors in English and Theology.
Karla J. McAvoy, CFP®, MBA
As a Financial Advisor, Karla focuses on providing financial planning services and retirement forecasts. Karla received her B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Davis and graduated with honors. She also received an MBA from Santa Clara University in 2001. She has completed the course work and passed the exam for the Certified Financial Planner certificate. Karla’s background is in technology where she worked as a software engineer at Bank of America and PeopleSoft. At PeopleSoft, she developed educational programs for the company’s customers and managed a 50 person Educational Services department for customer training. Karla belongs to both NAPFA and the Financial Planning Association and has been an active member for several years of the FPA NorCal Conference Committee.
Lorrie is our Administrative Assistant who manages the front desk operations, greets clients, and schedules appointments. She oversees our quarterly portfolio report and financial planning newsletter distributions. Lorrie assists completing client requests related to their investment accounts and manages many other administrative duties for the firm. For many years, Lorrie was the Business Administrator for Kacee Construction Company in Walnut Creek. Lorrie is also an artist, painting in watercolors, oils, and pastels.
DeAnne is our Operations Manager and assists clients for all interactions with Charles Schwab, our trading platform. She opens new accounts, processes client requests and distributions, and completes all transactional forms. DeAnne also assists the portfolio managers in preparing reports for analysis and review. DeAnne has worked in the investment advisory business for many years and continues to provide excellent service and support to both our clients and advisors. DeAnne was recently appointed as a Notary Public for the State of California.
Cynthia Padden is our Client Service Representative and works with Lorrie and DeAnne to provide support services for all our clients. She assists in gathering information needed to prepare for annual reviews and update financial plans. Cynthia has many years of experience in customer service and support. She worked for over twelve years in telecom and project management, primarily with AT&T (formerly as SBC Communications and PacBell). Her specialty was ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction, building trusted relationships, listening to clients and their needs, and managing complex workloads.
